Gold Coast & SEQ – Fixed price & Free Quotes – 24/7 call outs

Fault Finding and Troubleshooting

A fault in a commercial building isn’t costing you the repair, it’s costing you the hours the site can’t operate.

We isolate it properly the first time using thermal imaging and live testing rather than swapping parts until something works, then quote a fixed price to fix it.

Three-phase, distribution boards, motor and machine circuits, nuisance tripping.

Our team are all licensed QLD electrical contractors with a Level 1 thermographer. Having over 20+ years across commercial, industrial and body corporate work, Knight Electrical Solutions is on call 24/7 when the site can’t wait until morning.

Diagnosis First Because Guessing Is What Is Costing You:

The fast and wrong way to fix a fault is to replace parts until the symptom stops. After 20+ years of electrical work – we’ve learnt that this is the incorrect approach.

On a site with three-phase distribution, sub-boards and plant, that gets expensive quickly and leaves you with no idea what actually failed or whether it will happen again.

We isolate by board, then by circuit, then by section of the run, using test instruments and thermal imaging rather than inference. At the end you know what failed, why, and whether it is a repair or the first sign of something larger.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY ABOUT KNIGHT ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS

COMMON FAQ

Here are a list of common questions we get asked by our Gold Coast Homeowners and Businesses

We’re available 24/7 for faults that stop a site operating. Call 0421 333 034 and we’ll give a straight answer on when we can be there. Usually same-day or even in the hour. Where a fault can safely wait until normal hours, we’ll tell you that too – no point paying after-hours rates for something that isn’t costing you anything overnight.
Fault finding is charged for the diagnostic work, then the repair is quoted as a fixed price before it starts. The reason it’s separated is that nobody can quote a repair before knowing what’s broken. What you won’t get is an open-ended bill – we agree the diagnostic scope up front and the repair price before any work begins.
Usually, yes, because intermittent faults need testing under load rather than a visual inspection. Thermal imaging shows connections running hot while the circuit is working, which is exactly when the fault is present and a static check shows nothing. Most faults that survive one or two visits are loose terminations, degraded neutrals or equipment leakage – all of which show up under the right test.
Yes. Three-phase supply, main switchboards, distribution boards, submains and motor circuits are all standard commercial work. With 20+ years across commercial, industrial and body corporate sites our licensed QLD electrical contractors have seen and dealt with it all.
Nuisance tripping is usually cumulative earth leakage rather than a single fault. Several pieces of equipment each leaking a small amount to earth will add up past the RCD’s threshold, so nothing looks broken individually but the circuit won’t hold. Testing each load separately identifies which items are contributing, and often the fix is redistributing circuits rather than replacing anything.
In most cases. We isolate to the affected circuit where the fault allows it, so the rest of the site keeps running while we test. Where work genuinely requires the main supply off, we’ll schedule it after hours or at the quietest point in your week and tell you exactly how long the outage needs to be.
Yes. You get a written record of what was found, what was done, and the test results, including thermal images where imaging was used. That matters for insurers, building certifiers and incoming tenants, and it matters more if a fault ever becomes a claim.
Yes – treat that as urgent. Heat and noise at a switchboard indicate loose connections or overloaded circuits, both of which are fire risks. Switch off non-essential loads and call a licensed electrician the same day. Thermal imaging will locate the hot connection precisely rather than guessing at which one it is.
