Gold Coast & SEQ – Fixed price & Free Quotes – 24/7 call outs

Intercom Repairs And Access Systems

An intercom that stops working generates complaints every single day until it’s fixed, and it’s rarely the whole system. More often it’s one handset, the door release, the power supply or a cable that’s finally given up.

We test the system rather than quoting a replacement, tell you what’s actually failed, and give you a fixed price the committee can approve.

Our team are all fully licensed electricians with over 20+ years across strata, body corporate and commercial buildings. Servicing all of the Gold Coast, SEQ and Tweed Heads – 24/7.

Repairs First And Replace Only When Necessary:

Older analogue systems are frequently written off as unrepairable when the actual problem is a discontinued handset, a failed power supply, or a single damaged cable run.

Parts availability is the real constraint, not capability. We tell you plainly whether your system is still serviceable, whether replacement handsets can still be sourced, and where the sensible upgrade point is.

When a full replacement genuinely is the right call, usually because the system is obsolete or the building wants video and mobile answering, you get a scoped fixed price the committee can actually put in front of owners.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY ABOUT KNIGHT ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS

COMMON FAQ

Here are a list of common questions we get asked by our Gold Coast Homeowners and Businesses

Usually not. Most intercom failures are a single component (a handset, the door release, the power supply or a section of cabling) and the rest of the system is fine. Systems do reach end of life, but that’s a conclusion after testing, not a starting assumption. We’ll test it and tell you which one you’re dealing with.
Almost always the handset itself or the wiring to that unit. When a single unit fails and everyone else is fine, the common equipment (panel, power supply, door release) is working by definition. That’s usually a quick fix and one of the cheaper jobs in the building.
That points to shared equipment rather than individual units, most commonly the power supply, the entry panel or the door release itself. It’s also the version that generates the most complaints, so it’s worth treating as urgent. We’ll isolate which of the three it is on the first visit.
There are usually three, and they should be priced against each other rather than assumed. Salvaged or compatible parts can keep an older system running, individual components can sometimes be replaced with current equivalents, or the system can be replaced outright. Replacement isn’t automatically the right answer just because the system is dated, and it shouldn’t be the only quote you’re given.
Fixed price, quoted in writing before any work starts, in a form the committee can approve without needing it explained. Where a fault needs diagnosing before it can be priced, that’s quoted separately and up front so nothing gets approved open-ended.
Electrically, yes – they’re wired together and a door that won’t unlock is often an intercom fault rather than a lock problem. Strikes and magnetic locks fail, and so does the wiring to them. If the intercom works but the door doesn’t open, that’s usually the release, and it’s a separate repair to the intercom itself.
Intercom faults are treated as priority work because they generate resident complaints daily until they’re resolved. Call and you’ll get a straight answer on when we can be there rather than a message taken. Where it’s a security issue (an entry door that won’t lock) that’s handled as an emergency.
Generally the body corporate covers common property equipment (entry panels, cabling, power supplies, door releases) while handsets inside a lot are more often the owner’s. That said, it depends on the building’s plan and by-laws, and we’re not the right people to give a definitive answer on that. We’ll bill it however the committee or building manager directs.
